She lived in Jackson County, Georgia and graduated Jefferson High School class of 1957. She met the love of her life, Marvin Hall, at Jefferson High School. Marvin played basketball, football and baseball and Linda was a cheerleader. After high school, Marvin joined the Army and went to Korea to serve his country. When he returned, he asked Linda to marry him. They were married by a Justice of the Peace in nearby South Carolina on May 31, 1958. Linda was 18 and Marvin was 21. They were married for 64 years at the time of Linda’s death.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruby Mae Hale of Athens, Ga. and her siblings, Ferrell Hale of Athens, Ga., Betty Archer of Stone Mountain, Ga., Travis Hale of Atlanta, Ga., Frances Foster of Sandy Springs, Ga., and Louise Duke of Jefferson, Ga.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Hall, three children, Greg (Threasa) Hall of Bainbridge, Ga., Gus Hall of Brunswick, Ga, and Haley (Jeff) Manley of Jackson, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Daryl (Celia) Hall, Drew (Amanda) Hall, Dustin (Melanie) Hall, Mae Manley, Desiree Hall, Abigail (Will) Walters, and Abel Manley; seven great grandchildren, Alyssa Hall, Hudson Hall, Perry Hall, Bowen Hall, Braxton Hall, Harrison Hall and Brooks Hall; two sisters, Charlotte Arnold of Jefferson, Ga. and Maxine Hart of Snellville, Ga.; and one sister-in-law, Ellen (Jim) Majewski of Macon, Ga.

In March of 1985 when her first grandchildren were born, Linda was affectionately named “Mawmaw” and went by that name ever since. Linda was a member of First Baptist Church of Bainbridge where she was a dedicated servant of the Hilda Byrd Sunday School Class until she became too ill to attend church. She was an avid reader, but her only hobbies were her family. She attended every school program, sports game, and award ceremony imaginable and prepared more meals than most folks have eaten in a lifetime. She was a stickler for manners but wasn’t afraid to tell you when you needed a haircut or to lose a few pounds. She was deaf in one ear, a survivor of breast cancer and suffered chronic back pain most of her adult life, but she could always put the pain aside and come up with a smile for her visiting family.

After a long battle with Lewy body dementia, Linda died at home resting comfortably in bed next to the love of her life. She will be missed by family but they have peace knowing she now resides with Jesus in his Father’s house.

Flowers or memorial donations can be made to: First Baptist Church of Bainbridge or the The American Cancer Society.
