Lynne M. Lewis

September 12, 1947 – June 3, 2022

Lynne McDonald was born in Albany on September 12, 1947, the second child of Tucker A McDonald, Jr and Mildred E. McDonald.  She was raised with her siblings Thomas Eugene, Ruth, and Mary Lou. She was a graduate of Dougherty County High School.

In the mid-1960s, Lynne met Nelson Lewis to whom she was married over 40 years. Together, they raised three children: Tucker A. Lewis (Lori) of Blakely, Suzanne Lambert (John) of Climax, and Tara Knowles (Kenny) of Willachoochee. A family emergency inspired Lynne to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine. After graduating from EMT School, she took a position with the Decatur County EMS. She later sought specialized training as an Advanced Cardio Tech and a Paramedic at Darton College in Albany. During her career at DCEMS, she served as shift leader and later Director of Decatur County EMS. She also taught first aide classes at Bainbridge College. Serving the people of Decatur County (and for 1 year in retirement at Seminole Co) brought her much happiness.

She had a love for music across several genres, especially quartet music; she also collected chickens and lately, cardinals. She took a liking to Adult Coloring Books and Cross Stitching. She spent many enjoyable days fishing with Nelson.

Lynne loved her family. She was proud of their accomplishments, especially the 11 grandchildren:  Aaron, Jeremi, and Courtney (Tyler); Sulyn (BJ), Tyler, Caitlyn, Allyson (James), Holden, Charlotte, Rachel, and Tucker Jr. She adored her 11 great-grands:  Hannah, Jamie, Winslet, Scarlett, Saige, Serenity, Toby, Willow, Juniper, Anna, and Emma. In addition to her family, she was a den mother for her nieces and nephews and the friends of her children and grandchildren.

Lynne passed peacefully at SouthEast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan on June 3 after a very short illness. She was surrounded by her sister, brother-in-law, her children, and grandchildren.

Lynne M. Lewis is preceded in death by her parents, T.A. and Mildred; her husband, Nelson; her brother, Gene; her sister, Mary Lou; and a grandson, Tyler.

A service honoring her life will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Ivey Funeral Home, with her son, Tucker A. Lewis officiating with the assistance of her daughter-in-law, Rev. Lori Lewis. At the end of the service, there will be a special tribute by Decatur County EMS and other county employees. The family will accept friends for a time of visitation following the services, at the funeral home. A private interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge. The Public whom she served so faithfully, and family and friends are invited to attend.
