Diane Downing Sorrells Dean, 64 of Brundidge, AL died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Troy Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11am (CST) at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brundidge with Lee Windham officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 5-7pm (CST) at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark, AL.

She is survived by her husband Stan Dean; daughter Brooke Dunlap (Tad); grandchildren Lakyn Dunlap and Judson Dunlap; siblings Martha Hobby, Randy Downing (Rhonda), Sandra Smith, Donna Jackson (Ernie), and Andy Downing; brother-in-law Marvin Ellis; a host of nieces and nephews that stretch throughout Alabama and Georgia; step-daughters Ashlie Hickman, Jamie Sorrells, and Casey Laska; and best friend Brenda Hannah.

She is preceded in death by her parents Palmer & Mildred Downing, siblings Linda Ellis, Danny Downing, and Sheila Jenkins; and her first husband Edward Sorrells.

Diane faithfully and lovingly served her community as a nurse for over 40 years working for Dr. Todaro, Dr. Hethcoat, and Dr. Bennett while living in Bainbridge and continued caring for people in her retirement. She loved the Lord, her husband, children, and grandchildren more than anything else.

  1. Sending my condolences for her family., so sorry to hear this. I went to church with her at Evangel Temple in the 90’s. She will be deeply missed.

  3. Diane and I were almost inseperable during our teenage years. I can hear her unique laugh now. She was so attentive to my mother when she was in abinbridge. I know you all will miss her tremendously. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  4. My wife, Betty Sue Spooner, and I were saddened to hear of this about Diane. Of course, we all knew her when she lived in Bainbridge, was married to Ed Sorrels and attended Evangel Temple Assembly of God with our family in Bainbridge. We lost track of her and her family when we had to move out of town due to my job for several years.

  5. Diane was a great person with a caring personality. She will be missed by her friends and family.
