Dora Jane Taylor Galloway, 83, of Tallahassee, FL, (formerly of Attapulgus, GA) passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lynn Hurley officiating. Interment will be at Attapulgus Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Ivey Funeral Home.
Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Dora Jane was born in Quincy, Fl on November 2, 1937 to the late Fannie Jacobs McElvy. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1956. She received her Bachelors of Education from Florida State University and her Masters degree in Education from Valdosta State University. She was an educator in Decatur County, her longest tenure being a second grade teacher at Elcan King Elementary. She was a member of the Fidelis Chapter of Alpha Delta Kapa, the United Methodist Church of Attapulgus, the Decatur County Retired Teacher’s Association, and a charter resident of Mulligan Park Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Robert L. (Buck) Taylor. Buck died an untimely death in 1998 and later she was fortunate to meet and marry George R. Galloway in 2000. They enjoyed many days together at Florida State football games. Dora Jane enjoyed gardening, travel, family trips with her grandchildren to St. George Island and had most recently attended her great grandchild’s first birthday party.
Survivors include: Robert L. Taylor, Jr. (Clare) of Richardson, Texas, John Lawson Taylor, II (Kelly) of Attapulgus, Georgia, Jennifer Taylor Weinman (Adam) of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Mallary Taylor Whitten (Michael), Andy Taylor, Amelia Taylor, Vivian Taylor, Jacob Weinman; great-grandchildren, Colin Whitten; sisters, Lois Stookie of Titusville, Florida, Anna Warren of Melbourne, Florida; sister-in-law, Majorie Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husbands, and brothers, Lawrence (Buddy) McElvy, Cleo Brown, Kimbrel Brown, and Lewis Brown.
