On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at approximately 1516 hours, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Justin Kelly responded to the area of 2291 Butler Ferry Road, in reference to a Burglary in progress. Prior to Sgt. Kelly’s arrival at the residence, Decatur/Grady 911 advised that the offender was leaving the scene, in a red GMC truck with a camper shell attached, headed towards Bainbridge. Sgt. Kelly then turned the investigation over to Inv. Edmond, Inv. McClanahan, and Inv. Monteze McCall. Sgt. Kelly later transported Bernal to the Decatur County Jail. Upon arrival at the Jail, Bernal was turned over to Jail Officials for booking procedures.

On Tuesday, July 13,2021 at approximately 20;50 hours, Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies were advised of a reckless driver who were stated to have been traveling north on Fowlstown Highway coming towards the city of Bainbridge. Decatur County Sheriff Deputy Gary Hines acknowledged the call through Decatur 911 and headed to the area of the initial complaint. Deputy Hines advised Decatur 911 that he was in the area, traveling south searching for the suspect vehicle. Once Deputy Hines arrived in the area of the One Stop store, Hines observed the headlights of an unknown vehicle traveling directly towards his vehicle, in the opposite lane of travel. Deputy Hines maneuvered his patrol vehicle to the side of the road to avoid a head on collision. Deputy Hines radioed into Decatur 911 that he was nearly struck by the oncoming vehicle as he turned around and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop on this vehicle.

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at approximately 1908 hours, Sgt. Chris Jackson and Deputy Vontrail Smith responded to a wooded area on Newton Road, Bainbridge Ga., South of Pinehill Rd. in reference to a vehicle accident. Sgt Jackson received a phone call From Capt. Tim Mixon in reference to a vehicle in the woods. When Deputy Smith responded on Scene, she observed a Black Challenger that was flipped over onto its hood with missing car parts. The vehicle appeared to have been there for some time. Sgt Jackson Ran the vin and discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Albany Ga., in May 2021. There were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed by Precision Auto. This incident was turned over to Albany P.D.

On Friday, July 16, 2021, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Investigator (Inv.) Vincent Edmond was on duty and located in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia. Inv. Edmond was contacted by DCSO Investigator Robert Humphrey. Inv. Humphrey advised Inv. Edmond of an incoming report of Possible Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes. Inv. Edmond acknowledged Inv. Humphrey and advised him that he would launch an investigation into this matter.
