Betty Bowers Maddox

January 17, 1952 – July 29, 2021

Betty Bowers Maddox, 69, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at

Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Phillip Kirkland officiating.  Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery with Aaron Hinton, Paxton Pope, Brad Cross, Tracy Horne, Danny North, and Jake Maddox serving as active pallbearers.

Betty Lee Bowers was born January 17, 1952 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Henry and Carmen Heiffelfinger Bowers. Though an Ohio native, Betty lived most of her life in Southwest Georgia. After high school, she proudly served her country in the United States Army, then spent 33 years serving her community through her work at Seminole County Health Department. Betty was a member of Donalsonville Church of God.

Known as a lifelong learner, Betty was also a caring and compassionate teacher. She enjoyed leading Sunday School classes and studying the Bible. She freely shared her life experiences providing hope and encouragement to those she met. Betty’s time was often spent with family or some activity with her church, a testimony to her love for the Lord and her people. In her spare moments, she would squeeze in a card game or crochet.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Maddox; her children, Marjorie & James Robinson of Bainbridge, and Jonathan North of Iron City; her grandchildren, Aaron, Jeremy, Brandon, Madison, Katie, Jake, Paxton, and Kylee; her great-grandchildren, Haisley, Jesie, Carson, Ava, Luna, Alayna, Kayla, and Isaiah; her sister-in-law, Dolly Bowers of Toledo; her mother-in-law, Joan Doerr; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Mike North, and her brother, Richard Bowers.
