Nancy Langston Gray

November 14, 1943 – May 26, 2021

Nancy Langston Gray, 77, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Melissa Traver officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Bobby Langston, Fred Gray, Wayne Strickland, Hunter Strickland, Elijah Brock, and Sammy H. Gray, III, will serve as active pallbearers.

Nancy was born November 14, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Max and Ruth Langston. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1961, and Georgia State College for Women. She taught home economics for several years for the Miller County School System.

She loved bowling, cards, and fishing and was the spitting image of her mother. Her big heart and unconditional love were gifts from Mrs. Ruth. When seen with her cousin, Susan Thomas, everyone would picture the movie Driving Miss Daisy. As was the longtime family tradition, she was actively involved in the Bainbridge community and charities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Angie Gray of Bainbridge, GA; her son, Fred Gray of Zephyrhills, FL; her grandchildren, Hunter Strickland, Katelyn Brock (Elijah), Amanda Burnett (Jonathan), Ashley Medley (Kyle), Jennifer Gray, and Sammy H. Gray, III; her nephew and great-nephew, Robert Dewey Langston, Jr. (Mandy) and Dewey Maximo Langston; and her 14 great-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy H. Gray; her parents, Max and Ruth Langston; her brother, Robert Dewey Langston; and her sons, Sammy H. Gray, Jr. and Jeff Gray.

  1. I am so sorry! Nancy was a classmate of mine and a special friend to all. I won’t be able to come down for the funeral because of my health but, to her family, know she was loved. When we were VEEEEERY young, I was the groom and Nancy was the bride in the Tom Thumb wedding. I doubt they do those anymore. But she was a great lady and I wish I had been a better friend to her. Prayers for her family! God bless you and Ms Nancy.

  2. it sure is a shame I was not aware she had passed. I guess thats why she did not acknowledge me as a nephew.
