On Friday, May 14, 2021, at approximately 1025 hours, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Investigator (Inv.) Vincent Edmond was on duty and located at the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. Investigator Edmond was notified by another DCSO employee that emergency medical personnel had responded to the Decatur County Jail, in reference to a Death, of an Inmate in custody of the Decatur County Jail. Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) Special Agent Dustin Peak was at the DCSO and responded to the Decatur County Jail with DCSO Inv. Vincent Edmond to investigate the death.

On Friday, May 14, 2021, at 1106 hours, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Investigator (Inv.) Vincent Edmond was on duty and located in the Decatur County Jail. Inv. Edmond was investigating an incident in the Decatur County Jail when he was informed by DCSO Chief Inv. Elijah McCoy that a Georgia State Patrol Trooper was located on a traffic stop involving Illegal Drugs, at the intersection of Old Whigham and Whigham Dairy Road.

On Saturday, May 15, 2021, at approximately 1130 hours, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Investigator (Inv.) Vincent Edmond was off duty and located at his residence. Inv. Edmond was contacted by a dispatcher from Decatur-Grady E-911 and advised that Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Trooper Steven Kornegay was requesting Inv. Edmond’s assistance in a traffic stop where illegal drugs were found.
