Loma Young

Loma Anderson Young, age 97, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021, surrounded by family.   Mrs. Young was residing in Macon, Georgia.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge, Georgia.  The Rev. Chris Humphries will officiate.

In accordance with State of Georgia guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing and to wear protective masks.

Loma Anderson was born April 28, 1923 in Ringgold, Georgia.  Her parents, Edwin Sheppard Anderson, Sr. and Sarah Jonnie Fuller Anderson, have preceded her in death.

Loma married Emmett Harper Young, Sr.  In the late 40’s she and her husband moved to Bainbridge.  Loma and Emmett raised 4 children.    Mrs. Young was a member of the First Baptist Church.  She worked as Director of the City Youth Center in the 1960’s and 70’s and was employed as a secretary at the Decatur-Seminole Service Center.  In 2002, Loma moved from Bainbridge to Ringgold, Georgia.  This allowed her to be closer to family.   Loma Young will be deeply missed by the family she loved so much and her many, many friends.

Loma Anderson Young is survived by her daughter, Mary Loma Young of Jasper, Georgia; sons, Emmett Harper Young, Jr. and wife, Peggy Sue of Macon, and Timothy Roy Young and wife, Joylin of Hydaburg, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, son, David Anderson Young, Sr. and grandson, Emmett Carlos Young.

  1. What a wonderful lady and friend. She had such great wisdom and willingly shared it. We had many great talks and I truly loved her! In fact, I was just thinking about her the other day and remembering some good times. ❤️🙏🏻
