Barbara Barber Cowart, 78, of Athens, AL, formerly of Lake Seminole, GA passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021.
A private graveside funeral service will be held at Brinson Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Carnes officiating.

Barbara Elaine Barber was born January 4, 1943 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Hugh and Mable Kelly Barber. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. Barbara married James Cowart and they shared a beautiful life centered on family. Blake earned a special place in Barbara’s heart, doting on her and caring for her every need. She was known for decorating for every occasion and sometimes for no reason at all. Barbara enjoyed cooking and baking and more importantly the opportunity for fellowship.
Survivors include her children, Cary & Kathy Cowart of Birmingham, AL, Debbie & Blake Goolsby of Athens, AL, and Michael Cowart of Donalsonville, GA; her siblings, Sandra Kierce of Albany, GA and Glenn& Cathy Barber of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, David & Willow, Jacquelyn & Ben, Lauren & Michael, Gage, Jacob, Chase and Brock; and her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Elias, Isla, Theodore and James. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Donald Cowart.
