Hollis Wayne Adams was born January 14, 1949 in Camilla, GA, the son of Hollis and Dorothy Mae Page Adams. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and attended technical school. Wayne married Shirley Rich in 1971 and they made their home in Montgomery for over 30 years. He worked as a machinist for Kershaw Manufacturing and was a member of Autryville Baptist Church.

“It’s not what happens to you, but how you respond to it that matters.” This quote perfectly describes Wayne. He was always cheerful and willing to help others despite his illness. He loved people and found that pouring himself into others through his woodwork and poetry seemed to bring a peace beyond understanding. Though Wayne enjoyed tinkering with machines, wood and words, he didn’t mind taking time off to do a little fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirley Rich Adams; his son, Wesley Adams of Thomasville, GA; his grandchildren, Anthony Adams and Kameron Adams; and his sister, JoAnn Bass of Moultrie, GA. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Marie Stevens and George Earl Adams.

The Adams Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Archbold Memorial Hospital, physicians and cath lab employees for their care and compassion.
