Man Found in Possession of Firearms and Ecstasy during Traffic Stop

On Friday, January 15th around 1:30am, Bainbridge Public Safety Captain Toby Miller performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle with a burned-out headlight traveling northbound on Tallahassee Highway.  As Captain Miller approached the vehicle, he could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.  The male driver, identified as Tavarres Parrish, consented to a search of his vehicle.  Officer Christian Rich arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

During the search, Captain Miller located an open box of .380 ammunition under the driver’s seat.  Between the driver’s seat and the console, Captain Miller located a loaded Ruger .380 handgun.  A bookbag in the back seat of the vehicle was found to contain another firearm, a Glock 9mm.  In addition to the firearm, there were 39 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a clear plastic baggie containing 30 colored tablets of suspected Ecstasy, a clear plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana, and over $2,000 in cash.

Investigator Mary Price was contacted about the incident.  Tavares Deon Parrish, 33, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Crime (FELONY), Possession of a Schedule 1 or II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (FELONY), Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana, and a Headlight Requirement.
