Kenneth William Carter

 February 17, 1941 – January 4, 2021

Kenneth William Carter, 79, of Lake Seminole, formerly of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Anderson, Rev. Jimmy Dean and Kenneth’s grandson, Rev. Kenneth Miller, officiating. Interment will be at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with Billy Gray, Lamar Bryan, Bill Wilson, George Jones, Bill Fussell, Jack Underhill, Angus Alvarez, and Patriots for Christ Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines. Masks are required.

Kenneth William Carter was born February 17, 1941 in Ft. Myers, FL, the son of Joseph William Carter and Mary Luttich Carter. After high school graduation, Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Joan Brown in 1963 and they made their home all over “here and yonder”. Twenty-eight years ago, they packed up and moved to Lake Seminole. Kenneth worked as a printer in the Civil Service until his retirement. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Kenneth never met a stranger and was described as a “soul winner”. He served as Scout Master for 13 years at First Baptist Church in Niceville, FL where his impact has been felt for generations. As a volunteer, he spent countless hours working Judgement House being the hands and feet of Jesus to both volunteers and visitors. Kenneth enjoyed everything about the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He could whittle most anything was known in the region for his custom walking canes. Kenneth also had a knack for cooking. Friends and neighbors knew when he fired up the grill to cook ribs knowing they were guaranteed to be lip-smacking delicious.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joan Carter; his children, Joseph William Carter of South Carolina and Kimberly & Jimmy Miller of Donalsonville, GA; his brother, Gary Carter of Ft. Myers, FL; his grandchildren, Jimmy & Amanda, Kenneth & Emily, Rebecca, Christian, and Drew; and his great-grandchildren, Calvin, Hudson, Harper, and Carter. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.

  1. Joan Carter I’m in total shock …..Ken Carter was a fine a man as my Paul 😢 my heart goes out to you my dear friend and if there is ANYTHING I can do for you fine lady I’m here for you !
