Reba Byrd Harrison

Mrs. Reba Byrd Harrison, age 89, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, in Climax, Georgia.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, at Harrison Cemetery in Grady County.  The cemetery is on Old Highway 179, near Calvary, Georgia.  The Rev. Stanley Phillips will officiate.

Reba Byrd was born February 10, 1931 in Bainbridge, Georgia.  Her parents, Marvin Alfred Byrd and Phaydell Yawn Byrd, have preceded her in death.  Reba married James Samuel Harrison, Sr.  They were married over 52 years before her dear husband’s death.  Reba was a strong-willed, hard-working lady.   She worked on the farm, kept her home, and fed anyone and everyone.  She was a great cook and loved having a group to feed.   That “group” loved being fed by her!  She enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.  A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Reba lived a simple but full life.  One thing about it, Reba said what she meant and meant what she said.  Reba Harrison will be deeply missed by the family she loved so very much and her many, many friends.

Reba Byrd Harrison is survived by her sons, Danny Harrison (Irene) and James William Harrison, all of Climax; grandchildren, Lisa Harrison Jones (Andy), Lynn Phillips (Craig), Sheri Glisson, Jerry Lee Harrison, Jr., Christina Crawford, Bryan Jones, Carol Ann Rogers, and Jamie Heacock; and 15 great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, James Samuel (Buckshot) Harrison, Jr. and Jerry Lee Harrison, Sr., brother, Edsel Byrd, and grandson, Gerald Jacobs.
