Henry Bruce Covington, 82, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery with President Gil Valter officiating. Georgia State Patrol Post 14 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Henry Bruce Covington was born March 27, 1938 in Ochlocknee, GA, the son of Clarence and LouSena Bruce Covington. He graduated from Meigs High School, Class of 1957, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. Henry married Dorothy Fielding in 1963 and they made Southwest Georgia their home. Henry retired from Georgia State Patrol and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Many describe Henry as having the patience of Job. He always made time to listen and freely shared his experiences in hopes of making a positive impact. He enjoyed fishing and playing the fiddle. Henry crafted his own fiddles as a hobby and knew in detail the importance of every component and how it affected his music. He was adept at putting his stories to a tune.

Survivors includehis wife of 57 years, Dorothy Fielding Covington; his children, Bruce & Kathy Covington and Cherl & Walter Belisle, all of Donalsonville, GA; his siblings, Melton & Linda Covington and Wade & Sherry Covington, all of Thomasville, GA; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Anna, and Sara. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ann Kelley.
