Michelle L. Whatley

 December 10, 1955 – September 22, 2020

Michelle L. Whatley, 64, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

A private memorial service will be held at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ernie Jones officiating. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Michelle Louise Branch was born December 10, 1955 in Newport, RI, the daughter of Julian Love Branch and Bernadette Irene Lachache. She married Tom Whatley III in 2009 for the third time and they made their home in Faceville. Michelle was a member of Faceville Baptist Church.

As the matriarch of the family, Michelle could hold order. She called the shots and did not mind putting in the work to make it happen. Michelle did the right thing because it was the right thing, every time. As a faithful Christian, she led by example. Michelle was a wonderful mother and best friend who always had a minute to help you get it together. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sunshine in her life.

Survivors include her husband of almost eleven years, Thomas Floyd Whatley III; her children, Thomas Floyd Whatley IV and his wife, Kathy, Jeremy Wayne Whatley and his wife, Wendy, Laura Leigh Whatley, and Daniel Joseph Whatley; her siblings, David Kelley of Portsmouth, RI, Jacqueline Franko of Glenn Mills, PA, and Steven Branch of Tallahasee, FL; her grandchildren, Thomas Floyd Whatley V, Leeann & Jeremy Busby, Carigan Whatley, and Brianne Whatley; and her great-grandchildren, Bentlin, Paislynn Grace, Natlie Faith, and Aria Jean. In addition to her parents, Michelle was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Chester.
