Lorena West Wisham

Lorena West Wisham, age 91, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020 in Thomasville, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 20, 2020, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia. Rev. Steve Singletary will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 5:00-7:00 pm, at Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Georgia. In accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing and to wear protective masks.

Lorena West Wisham was born September 8, 1929 in Camilla, Georgia to Leonard Frank West and Mattie Lee Tillery West.  As a teenager she met the love of her life, Warner Lamar Wisham.  They married on September 12, 1945.  She and her husband raised their children and she proved to be a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.  In September 1980, her husband preceded her in death.  Lorena has lived in Cairo, Georgia for 60 years and was a member of the Cairo First Freewill Baptist Church.   When she was physically able, she enjoyed working in her flowers and mowing the grass.    Lorena’s dearest treasures were her grandchildren.  Lorena Wisham will be greatly missed by the family she loved so very much.

Mrs. Wisham is survived by her children, Peggy W. Muliford and Ricky L. Wisham and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Stacey Muliford (Stephanie), Richard Wisham (Jenny), Blake Wisham (Stephanie), Bobby Hollingsworth, Steve Wisham, Jr. (Sharon), Lisa Parker (Ron), Lori Barwick (Mike), Melissa Joy Wisham, Stephen Wisham (Heather), and Joshua Wisham; 22 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Steve Wisham, Sr.; Daughter, Glenda Hollingsworth; and all four of her brothers.
