Josephine Brockett Odom, 79, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Salem Seminole Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Debra Boozer officiating. Cheston Meredith, Todd McMillan, Robbie Godwin, James Griffin, Dale Nichols, and Matthew Hall will serve as active pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Josephine Brockett was born April 27, 1941 in Donalsonville, GA, the daughter of Ernest and Beatrice Key Brockett. Josephine worked as a Lab Tech for Shaw Industries for 27 years. She was a member of Potter’s House Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She married Starling Odom in 1957 and they remained together until his passing.

Josephine loved to get lost in a hard to solve crossword puzzle or play a game of solitaire. She was the centerpiece to a large family. She spent all the time she could with her loved ones, especially her grands. Josephine enjoyed taking them fishing and always had a well-prepared meal on standby for everyone to gather around the table and rejoice together. She would help anyone that crossed her path, and all those that come around became her extended family.

Survivors include her children, Martha Avery of Bainbridge, Patsy Rentz (Mark Parish) of Bainbridge, Alicia Cone (Rusty) of Attapulgus; her son-in-law, Chris Jordan, also of Bainbridge; her siblings, Lois Shipley of Mexico Beach and Jimmie Brockett (BJ) of Saraland, AL; her grandchildren, Sammy & Phylicia, Christy & David, Charlie & Chrissy, Chasity & Arthur, Russell & Lindsay, Katlin, Tenesha & Tony, Terrell, Ferrell, Mandi, Celisa & Buddy, Destiny and Ryan; her many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Starling Odom, her children, Ladon Odom and Teresa Jordan; her son-in-law, Larry Avery; her siblings, James Brokett, Jack Brockett, Winston Brockett, Ernestine Fortner, and Betty Shaw; and her grandson, Robby.
