Red Willis Lane was born February 21, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of George and Florence Patterson Lane. He married Noel Croom in 1988 and lived in Cusseta until 2006 when they headed south to Decatur County.

Red spent his entire life working cattle ranches. He loved livestock, working his dogs, and the family life on a cattle ranch. He was honest and appreciated your honesty. Red would give you the shirt off his back and “hold order” at the same time. The Atlanta Braves and Florida Gators gave him reasons to swell with pride and cuss a little from time to time. Red knew the importance of staying the course and keeping your eye on the prize.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Noel Reimers; his children, Patricia & Randy Croom of Cusseta, GA and Michael & Shari Croom of Crawfordville, FL; his brothers, Bub Lane, Noble Lane, Willard Lane, and Larry Lane; his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his sisters, Flo, Sis, and Nita.
