On Friday, July 3, 2020, Chief Vincent Edmond was on duty and located in the city of Attapulgus. It should be noted the Chief Edmond is employed with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and is deputized to handle incidents in the unincorporated areas of county if needed. Chief Edmond responded to a call of a 911 hang-up call, at 111 Hodges Riley Road, in Attapulgus, Georgia.
Chief Edmond then placed Ray Riley under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Chief Edmond later transported Ray Riley to the Decatur County Jail and turned him over to the jail staff for processing.

On Sunday, July 5, 2020, at approximately 0245 hours, Sgt Gabriel Cofer was on patrol on Antioch Church Road, approximately half a mile south of Kelly-Collins Road, when he encountered a subject walking in the roadway. Sgt Cofer observed a black male walking in the middle of the road on Antioch Church Road carrying a bookbag containing a gas can, and a flashlight. Sgt Cofer made contact with the male, later identified as John Henry Neal, to assist him. Sgt Cofer observed a large machete on Neal’s side. Sgt Cofer ran Neal through E-911 where he returned as a Wanted Subject out of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office for Probation Violation. Neal was placed under arrest and transported to the Decatur County Jail.
