Marvin Eugene Willis, Jr. was born July 19, 1948 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Marvin and Laverne Willis. He attended Bainbridge High School and worked as a salesman with several insurance companies over the years. Marvin married Cynthia Kay Rich in 2000 and they made their home in Grady County. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Working in insurance sales gave Marvin a wealth of knowledge. He knew all about people, places to fish, and what flowers would bloom best in his yard. Upon retirement, he tried out some of what he learned over the years; fishing when the weather was good, enjoying every plant that bloomed in his yard, and playing with his dogs until they needed a rest. Marvin was a man of strong faith and shared his love of the Lord freely. His family, especially his grandchildren, have fond memories of a man who cared deeply for others and modeled “Love your neighbor as yourself”.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Cynthia Kay Willis; his children, Gene & Tammy Willis of Lakeland, GA, Josh Willis & Katie Holcombe also of Lakeland, GA, Shannon & Darren Smeathers of Kingsland, GA, and Jeremy Davis of Cairo, GA; his siblings, Carolyn Lane, Janie Glass and Sandra Moore all of Bainbridge, GA, and Johnny Willis of Tallahassee, FL; and his grandchildren, Shelby, Gena, Riley, Ramzi, Bryce, Meredith, Maddie, Caden and Brooklyn. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his siblings, David Rowan, Mary Ann Boyd, Nancy Nutting, and Jody Logue.
