Betty Jo Rentz Bishop, 80, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020.
Betty was born January 24, 1940 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Joe Brown Rentz and Johnnie Williams Rentz. She was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School. Betty was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She lived in Idaho, Illinois and California before returning to South Georgia. She was able to travel to many different countries such as Scotland, Egypt, Canada and Germany to name a few and she loved to share stories of her travels. Betty enjoyed her church family, working in her flower garden, reading extensively, and bird watching. Her love for the outdoors made her patio a favorite napping spot.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Douglas) Dufva of Reno, NV, Mark (Jeanette) Bishop of Bainbridge, GA, and Douglas (Janivee) Bishop of Murrieta, CA; her siblings: Donald (Carolyn) Rentz, Kenneth Rentz, and James “Buddy” (Janice) Rentz; her grandchildren: Stephanie, Amanda, Nicolas, Jordon, Jenna, John and Jessica; her great-grandson, Dylan, as well as many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Robertson.
Her greatest joy was visiting with her family and friends, whether in person, on the phone or via video calls. She was a beautiful person who had an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of life that filled her with joy, compassion, gentleness and a deep loving concern for the world around her. She will be greatly missed by many.
Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
