Gloria Ramona Mitchell, 90, of Brinson, GA, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside funeral service will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Albritton officiating. A memorial service to celebrate Ramona’s life will be held at a later date.

Gloria Ramona Powell was born January 6, 1930 in Brinson, GA, the daughter of James and Odessa Grimes Powell. She was a graduate of Brinson High School, Class of 1948, and Valdosta State College. She taught business classes at Bainbridge High School until her retirement. Ramona was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Described by some as the hub, Ramona certainly lived life on her terms. She was stubborn and persistent. Many of her students will remember it was her way or the highway. Ramona was devoted to her family, her church and Bainbridge High School. Nothing brought a smile to her face quicker than the sight of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Gail Mitchell Tack and her husband, Jerry, of Bradenton, FL, and Lisa Mitchell DaSilva and her husband, Thomas, of Palmetto, FL; her grandchildren, Shana Schnitz, Sarah Van Putten, and Aaron & Erin DeSilva; her great-grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Bill Hamilton. In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Hamilton.
