Edna Louise Godwin was born February 16, 1962 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Frank Godwin, Sr. and Mary Ritter Godwin. She married John Franklin and they made their home in the Climax Community. Edna was a member of Beulah Thomas Baptist Church.

Edna was a genuine person who loved people. She had a weakness for those in need and always wanted to help. Her children describe her as a good mother that taught them the importance of cleanliness, a good meal, and working hard. (Edna was a clean freak, a great cook and could “work like a man”.) She enjoyed swapping stories and jokes and had a knack for remembering all the details.

Survivors include her children, Christy Rena Anderson and her husband, Corey Boatman, of Kearney, MO, Daniel Lee Anderson and his wife, Sony Lacy, of Moberly, MO, Calvin Bradley McConnell of Bainbridge, GA, and Wanda Alice Mercer of Savannah, GA; her siblings, Frank & Betty Godwin, Margaret Ann Cobach, Joyce Annette Powell, and Aubrey Jacobson; her grandchildren, Carson, Madisyn, Vann, Tucker, McKinze, Grayden, and Lane; and her great-grandchild, Casen. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, John Ervin Franklin; and her brothers, Eddie Jacobson and Leroy Jacobson.

  1. I missed her so much even though I hadn’t seen her in years. I moved away in 1977, but she was always in my thoughts. We first met in the 1st grade.
