Following a national search, the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA announced that Ken Bailey has been named its new CEO. Bailey is returning to this position at the Bainbridge Y after having previously served in the same capacity from 1998 to 2011. Starting in this role on January 1st, 2020, he will lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Y as well as community development and financial development initiatives.
“The Board of Directors is excited and honored to welcome Ken back to Bainbridge,” said Bridget Harrell, President of the Board of Directors. “Ken’s background, leadership, and financial development skills will be a tremendous asset to our Y as we seek to expand our mission and empower our community for good.”
For over 30 years, he has served in leadership roles at YMCA locations in Anderson, SC, Montgomery, Alabama, Cincinnati, Ohio and most recently, as the Branch Director of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, SC. Bailey will lead his staff and volunteers as the YMCA continues to grow and serve its members and community. This includes taking the lead on the Y’s strategic plan, creating excitement among staff, parents, and participants with new creative high-quality youth sports and aquatics programs, and working with the Board of Directors to collaborate with community leaders and organizations to further the Y’s mission. Bailey holds a bachelors degree in Physical Education from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky and is certified to teach K-12 in subjects Science, Health, and P.E.
“We came back to Bainbridge because it’s home and we missed the environment that a small town provides” said Bailey. Bailey enjoys coaching, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife, Vicki, and their family.
