Donald Edgar Brown was born September 27, 1932 in Colquitt, GA, the son of W.P. and Bessie Haire Brown. He married Jorene Haire and they made their home in Miller County. He was a faithful member of Bellview Free Will Baptist Church maybe missing services a handful of times.

Donald considered himself “semi-retired” because he could never really leave the land he loved. He farmed his entire life and could usually work circles around the younger generation. He kept a garden at home and after the joy of the harvest, he would give it all away. Donald didn’t just share his produce; he picked it, shelled it, packaged it and delivered it as a token of friendship but really being the hands and feet of Jesus. Everything about God’s creation excited Donald but especially the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but not more than tending his herd of cattle. Those that knew him well describe him as “the best fish fryer on the planet” and will fondly remember the food and the fellowship served out of love for others.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Jorene Brown of Colquitt, GA; his children, Joyce Brown Mills and her husband, Roger, and Donald Edgar Brown, Jr. and his wife, Jill, all of Colquitt; his siblings, Edward & Hester Brown, Eloise Holt and Carolyn Meredith; his grandchildren, Emily Brown and Lindsey & Brian Chambless; and his great-grandson, Colton Brian Chambless. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his siblings, Merlene Dunlap, Oral Brown and Max Brown.
