Municipal Qualifying Set for August 19-23

Qualifying for Decatur County’s four municipalities is set to begin Monday, Aug. 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the Decatur County Elections Office located at the Courthouse Annex at 122 W. Water St.

Qualifying will end on Friday, Aug. 23, at 4:30 p.m. No candidate may qualify after that time.

The recently announced vacancy created by Bainbridge City Councilmember Derik McDowell’s resignation will also be open for residents living in District A of the City of Bainbridge.

Election Day is Nov. 5.

Early voting will only be held at the Elections Office at the Courthouse Annex located at 122 W. Water St. The Fairgrounds will not be used for advance voting, but it will continue to be a regular polling location for voters registered in the Fairgrounds precinct.

Early voting will begin on Monday, Oct. 14, and continue through Friday, Nov. 1. Hours for advance voting will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be Saturday voting on Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

The West Bainbridge polling location is now at the School Support Center located at 507 Martin St.

 

The following are the seats that are up for election in the county’s four municipalities:

City of Attapulgus

All four city councilperson seats and the mayor of Attapulgus are up for election and their corresponding qualifying fees are the following:

Mayor                         $35.00

City Councilperson      $18.00

City of Bainbridge

The four alderman seats up for election and their corresponding qualifying fees are the following:

District A, Seat 2         $90.00 (For the Called Special Election to fill a vacancy)

District A, Seat 4         $90.00

District B, Seat 5          $90.00

District B, Seat 6          $90.00

City of Climax

The two councilperson seats up for election and their corresponding qualifying fees are the following:

Seat held by Councilperson Joseph Kelly       $20.00

Seat held by Councilperson Vanessa Martin  $20.00

Town of Brinson

The mayor and two posts are up for election and their corresponding qualifying fees are the following:

Mayor             $72.00

Post 1              $43.20

Post 3              $43.20

 

The Elections Office will not accept cash. Please be prepared to qualify with a check or money order. Also, incumbents are required to file their Personal Financial Disclosure Statement for the proceeding calendar year with the Elections Office at the time they qualify.

The deadline to register to vote or change your address for the Nov. 5th election is Monday, Oct. 7. Please go to Georgia My Voter Page at https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do to ensure you are registered to vote and your address is correct. This page also has information on where your precinct is located.
