Jessie Lou Gunn was born September 7, 1935 in Decatur County, GA, the daughter of David Harrison Gunn and Lou Edna Chason Gunn. She attended school in Decatur County and worked at Amoco Fabrics and later Shaw Industries. She was Baptist by faith.

Jessie was a traveler at heart. She would camp anywhere especially if she was near a good fishing hole. Jessie’s home was neat as a pin and her family describes her as one who “loved to clean”. (She may or may not have swept out her campsite just to stay in practice for when she returned home.) BigMa knew life was all about the risks and the game. She made many memories on her trips to Biloxi.

Survivors include her daughters, Pat Conyers and her husband, Joe, and Frances Prince; her grandchildren, Frankie & David Funderburke, Charlie & Nikie Marshburn, Joy Bell, Jordan Prince, Renee Sykes and Christopher Scott; her great-grandchildren, Anna  & Kyle Wilson, Chastity Toliver, Kyle Funderburke, Cooper Bell, Morgan Sykes, C.J. Marshburn, John Sykes, Nickolas Marshburn, Imani Prince, Kinley Prince, Peyton Bell, Ezra Prince and Eris Prince; and her great-great-grandchildren, Madison Whitley, McKenna Whitley and David Toliver. In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her daughter, Gail McLaughlin; and her grandson, Charles “Pap” Long.
