BPS Participates in Rope Rescue Tool Training

Bainbridge Public Safety is in the process of replacing all of their rope rescue tools, and on Tuesday, June 25th, Derick Reinhart, rope-climbing expert and Southeast U.S. Technical Representative for CMC Rescue, Inc., visited BPS to demonstrate several of these new and improved items. In order to show officers how the rope system deploys, and also complete some of their training requirements, the 5 new BPS Cadets took turns attaching themselves to the rope and climbing up the 102′ aerial ladder of the firetruck. Once reaching the top, each cadet had to release their hold on the ladder railings and lean back, allowing the rope and harness system to hold them.  Cadet Kyle Wilford also tried out the harness & pulley rescue system which was attached underneath the bucket of the firetruck.

Cadets who participated in the training exercises were Samuel Whitley, Michael Bush, Marcus White, Brandon Deen, and Kyle Wilford.
