Virginia Taylor Bowen, 75, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Virginia Ann Taylor was born January 6, 1944 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of James E. and Bonnie Lee Culverson Taylor. She married Grady Andrew Bowen in 1964 and they made their home in Bainbridge. Virginia was a member of Christian Faith Church.

With the heart of a caregiver, Virginia spent her days taking care of anyone that would let her. She worked with the children in her church, taught Sunday School for over 40 years and participated in prison ministry. She facilitated crafts at Decatur County Senior Center and spent time getting to know each participant. Virginia was an excellent cook paying special attention to what her grandchildren would request for family gatherings. No one, not even a stranger, could ever mistake Virginia’s smile as a symbol of her sincere desire to love others like Jesus did.

Survivors include her children, Patrick Chipman and his wife, Brenda, of Indiana, Belinda Green and her husband, Tony, of Bainbridge, GA, Vicky Detling and her husband, Chuck, of Alabama, Joan King and her husband, Roy, of Albany, GA, Michael Bowen of Brunswick, GA and LaJean Bowen also of Bainbridge, GA; her siblings, Cathy & Ronnie Fleming, Patricia Radar, Sandra Vecchio, Rose Faircloth, Sue Holder, Tammy Taylor, Ronnie Taylor and James Taylor; and her thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Grady A. Bowen; her brother, Kenny Wayne Taylor; and her great-great-grandchild, Lily King.
