Joyner named Interim CEO of the Bainbridge – Decatur County YMCA

The Bainbridge – Decatur County YMCA is pleased to announce Mr. Norman E. Joyner as the Interim CEO, effective January 1.

Joyner is currently the President/CEO of NEJ Consulting. Prior to this role, he retired from the YMCA of the USA as a Network Consultant after a 35-year career. While with the national
YMCA organization, his consultant territory included Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

His extensive executive experience with the YMCA organization proved to be invaluable to the services he provided such as leadership to the International Group and successful coordination of the World Service Campaigns in the southeast for 200 associations for over a 12-year period.

Representing the YMCA of the USA, Norm has traveled extensively to Africa, South America,
Eastern and Western Europe, and the Caribbean.

“The board of directors is excited to partner with Norm in the months to come as he
reinvigorates and leads the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA,” says Meredyth Earnest, chair of
the YMCA Board of Directors. “We have already seen his positive impact and direction in so
many ways. We are thankful for the continued support of our members, our staff, and our
community. Great things are happening at the YMCA!”

“It has been a busy first four weeks,” says Joyner. “The opportunities at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA are great. We are proud to provide programs and services that meet the needs of youth, adults, and families of this great community.”

Norm is a native of LaGrange, NC. He received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from
Shaw University in Raleigh, NC where is also recognized as a Hall of Fame “Shaw Bear”
basketball player. Norm and his wife, Patricia, have been married for 50 years and have two
children and two granddaughters.

Joyner sees the Christian mission of the YMCA to be of central focus during his tenure in
Bainbridge. “These wonderful facilities, which have generously been provided through the
dedication and efforts of citizens over many years, are a tool to help us accomplish our mission.
