Mrs. Virginia Colvin Barrett, age 75, passed away Saturday, January 13. 2018, in Cairo, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Barrett will be held Monday, January 15, 4:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Grady County. The Rev. Mac Luke and Rev. Brent Welch will be officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Eric Barrett, Ben Barrett, Paul Barrett, Anthony Barrett, Cesar Obando, and Tyler Turvin will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral, beginning at 3:00.
Virginia Colvin was born December 25, 1942, in Jamison, Florida, to Jessie David Colvin and Mary Bell Hopkins Colvin. She married James Winifred Barrett, who preceded her in death. Virginia worked as a seamstress at Ithaca Manufacturing for over 30 years. Virginia loved to fish. She enjoyed working in her flowers. Granny loved to play Pogo on the computer. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia Barrett will be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends.
Virginia Barrett is survived by her children, Carol Turvin (Rodney), Janice Singletary (Blair), Becky Lindsey (Neal), and Jeffrey Barrett; daughter-in-law, Janice Barrett; sister and brothers, Mildred Brock, William Potter Colvin, George Hansel Colvin and James Colvin; 11 grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Winifred Barrett, and son, James Benjamin (Ben) Barrett.
