Mary Lou McDonald

Mary Lou McDonald, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Miller County Hospital, Colquitt, Georgia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Mary Lou’s nephew, the Rev. Tucker A. Lewis will officiate. The interment will follow at 4:00 p.m., in Riverside Cemetery, Albany, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at 1:00.

Mary Lou was born January 4, 1954, in Albany, Georgia, to Tucker A. McDonald and Mildred Winslette McDonald. Mary Lou attended Bainbridge High School and Thomas College, where she obtained her Degree in Nursing. At Thomas Tech she obtained a degree as an Emergency Medical Technician and an Advanced Life Support Instructor and CPR instructor. She, also, received a Certificate to teach students at Turner Job Corps to become Certified Nursing Assistants.

Mary Lou worked at Bainbridge Memorial and Tallahassee Medical Center in the Emergency Room and Medical/Surgical Departments. Mary Lou also worked for the Federal Prison System. Her love was always the Emergency Room.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, James Bradley Hanks, Jr. and wife, Cristy of Damascus, Georgia and Jennifer Hanks Nash and husband, Rusty of Leesburg, Georgia; grandchildren, Emily Hall of Nevada, Michael Apple of South Carolina, Taylor Nash, and Dakota Nash of Leesburg, Angel Davis and husband, Brandon of Climax, Georgia, Austin Harrison of Damascus; great-grandchildren, Phoenix and Alaric Davis of Climax; sisters, Lynne Lewis of Willacoochee, Georgia and Ruth Reed and husband, Don of Newman, Georgia. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. T. A. McDonald and Mildred Winslette McDonald, and brother, Thomas Eugene McDonald.
