George Renfro McDougald

George Renfro McDougald, Jr passed away in his home January 11, 2018 with his wife Marlene and his son Mark by his side.

Mr. McDougald was born in Rhine, GA, April 6, 1936 to the late George Renfro McDougald, Sr and Lounell Walker McDougald Henderson. George grew up in Americus, GA, where he attended Americus High School and graduated in 1955. He played football, basketball and baseball for the Americus Panthers and enjoyed years of camaraderie with his team and classmates.

Hunting was his favorite pastime. He spent many hours hunting in the woods with his lifelong hunting buddy, Gene Reeves. His career path followed that of his father and grandfather. He was employed with the Seaboard and CSX Railroads for 45 years. He retired to his farm, Paradise Ranch, in 1998 and for the next 10 years, raised cattle.

Mr. McDougald was preceded in death by his sister, Helen McDougald McGoldrick and his devoted dog, Prince, who was his constant companion.

Mr. McDougald is survived by his wife of 29 years, Marlene Wright McDougald, three children, George Renfro McDougald 111 (Randy); his two sons, Tyler and Conner McDougald of Greenville, SC. Melanie McDougald and her two children, Margaret and Beau Breen of Decatur, GA and Mark Allen McDougald and his four children, Morgan McDougald, Dillon McDougald, Dustin McDougald of Anderson, SC and Emmett McDougald of Panacea, FL.

He is also survived by three siblings, Charles Campbell McDougald (Charita) of San Francisco, CA, Lucile McDougald Pilcher of Panama City, Fl and Paul McDougald of Americus, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he taught to fish in his pond.

A private memorial service will be held in Bainbridge, GA on January 28, 2018 at 12pm at the McDougald family gravesite at Oak City Cemetery.
