Barbara Faye Long was born March 11, 1939, in Iron City, GA, the daughter of H.M. & Zorah Guy Long. After high school, Barbara went to beauty school and became a licensed cosmetologist. She lived for a number of years in New Orleans, moving back home in 1979 where she continued to “fix hair”. Barbara was a member of Open Arms Ministries.
Hitting the road on the next big adventure was always on deck for Barbara. She enjoyed traveling and met new friends at every stop. When she settled at home for a minute, she worked in the yard. Her lovely flowers, trees, and plants were results of her green thumb. She had a knack for making people feel good about themselves just sitting in her chair. She knew her customers well and kept all their secrets. Family haircuts/hairdos were always on the house as a little show of love from Barbara.
Survivors include her children, Natasha Wells & Traci & Mike Rutland; her son-in-law, Jess Cook; her daughter-in-law, Karen Giovengo; her grandchildren, Natalie & Grady, Chris, Jessica, Kimberly & Ritchie, Joshua & Heather, Tiffany, Kaitlyn, and Jordon; her great-grandchildren, Peyton, Shauna & Patrick, Spencer & Kayla, Christian, Jackson, Ethan, Landon, Cameron, McKenzie & Patrick, Blake, Presli, Bella, Nola, Paysli, Keagan, and Nicolas; and her great-great-grandchildren, Zane, Owen, Asher, Maura, Colt, Hudson, and Owen. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Giovengo and Max Chapman; her children, Paula Cook & Troy Giovengo; her siblings, Kay German, Gerald Long, and Mary Jacob; and her son-in-law, Chuck Wells.
