Kathy Lynn Lane was born April 23, 1954, in Colquitt, GA, the daughter of Billy & June Mock Lane. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1972. She attended the University of Georgia and Middle Georgia College. Lynn earned two associate degrees from Bainbridge Junior College. Lynn married Billy Birdsong in 1973, and the action picked up from there. Though she worked for years at Memorial Hospital and Bainbridge Pharmacy, Lynn’s full-time job was keeping up with Billy. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Lynn was organized and efficient. She remembered everything, including some things you might not have wanted her to. In business, she kept the farm records down to the cent. Her sidebar comments often included wondering why Billy needed to make thirty trips a day to town especially when she had to take photos through the window when traveling across the United States.

She was a “people person” who loved sharing life and all the stories that come with it. Her children and grandchildren provided much fodder and brought many laughs. Lynn never minded getting her hands dirty. She enjoyed yard work and never really embraced the fact that her thumb really was green. Lynn was a great cook, known to cook it all. She could handle the masses and always had a spot at her table for a stray or two. Deviled eggs, even from the most boujee establishments, never compared to Lynn’s.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Billy Birdsong; her children, Lance Birdsong (Sheila) and Lee Birdsong; her grandchildren, Katelynn & John, Mason & Ashton, Austin, Perry & Taylor, Lanie, Maverick, Paris, and Coulter; her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jake, Jesse, and Brooks; her sister, Lori Eubanks; her sister-in-law, Dianne Lane; her best dog, Benji; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her brother, Lanier Lane; her daughter-in-law, Crystal Birdsong; and her dogs, Paddie Cake, Katie, and Bo.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
