Gladys Rhudeen Evans was born August 31, 1939, in Cairo, GA, the daughter of Adford & Pansy Hand Evans. She was a graduate of Cairo High School. In 1959, Rhudeen married Ronald Harrison, and they made their home in Decatur County, but right on the Grady County line so she wasn’t far from “home”. Rhudeen was Baptist by faith.

A great sense of humor kept Rhudeen laughing and others in stitches. Her off the cuff remarks made the details of “back in the day” stories much more memorable. Rhudeen was an excellent cook and never read a recipe she couldn’t tweak. Family favorites always included fried chicken and her thin layered chocolate cake.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ronald Harrison; her children, Ronnie Harrison, Ricky & Jenny Harrison, and Rhonda Harrison; and her granddaughter, Rachael Harrison. In addition to her parents, Rhudeen was preceded in death by her brother, Lawson Ray Evans.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
