William Claude Whiddon was born December 6, 1935, in Recovery, GA, the son of Claude & Louise Hickey Whiddon. He was a graduate of Cairo High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Bill was a millwright by trade and retired from B & W Machinery. He was Methodist by faith.

Bill was just Bill. He loved the outdoors. He fished everywhere from the Flint to the Ochlocknee to salt water and probably every hole of water in between. (Mowing grass was his therapy between fishing trips.)  And though he enjoyed hunting, every day he stopped what he was doing to watch the deer play. Bill was a master millwright and could fix anything. He loved the challenge of difficult projects and grinned when he shared the newly improved “Bill version” of whatever required repair.

Survivors include his wife of almost 44 years, Janie C. “Cindy” Whiddon; Richard C. Whiddon (Jackie) of Perry, GA, William Victory (Joy) of NM, Patrick Whiddon (Nancy), Mike Whiddon, David Whiddon (Lynn), Rochelle Denton, Sandra Claxton (Argene), and Jeff Whiddon (Penny) all of Perry, GA; his brothers, Kenneth Whiddon (Kay) and Jack Whiddon (Jean) all of Quincy; his sister-in-law, Mary Whiddon of Havana; a passel of grandchildren & great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sons, Eddie L. Victory and William Randall “Randy” Whiddon; his grandson, Randy Whiddon; and his siblings, Larry Whiddon and Nell Broome.
