H. Guy Alphord, 79, of Abbeville, AL, formerly of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. DeWitt Phillips officiating. A private interment will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Tim Smith, Andrew Thomley, Reid Poitevint, Ryley Poitevint, Shawn Smith, and Terry Don Smith serving as active pallbearers.

Hurlton Guy Alphord was born November 6, 1944, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Dick & Ozzie Reeder Alphord. Guy worked as a tree surgeon for years. He was a Christian by faith.
Guy was an outdoorsman who trekked many miles working on trees. The bonus was he found all the best fishing holes and frequented them when he could. He loved old westerns and seemed to always be tinkering on something. The grandchildren were a source of joy, and he often bragged about their accomplishments. Guy’s dogs (bullmastiffs) followed him everywhere never realizing they weren’t humans.
Survivors include his children, Edward Connell (Megan) of Decatur, GA, Tanya Alphord (Shawn) and Tammy Dollar (Justin) all of Bainbridge, Bridgett Alphord of Pansey, AL, and Tiffany Smith (Tim) of Ashford, AL; his siblings, Miriam Dixon (Kenneth) of Webb, AL, Carolyn Nutt (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, FL, Randy Alphord of Dothan, AL, Reisel Alphord of Kinsey, AL, Michael Alphord (Wanda) of Helburg, AL, Dock Alphord of Ashford, AL, Allen Alphord, and Jimmy Alphord also of Dothan; his thirteen grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by his siblings, Elbert Alphord and Jessie Alphord, and his granddaughter, Abigail.
