Ruth Rosetta Cleveland Clay, age 68, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away on January 27, 2024, at Memorial Hospital and Manor in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Ms. Clay will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Ms. Clay was born on October 9, 1955, in Toronto, Canada, to Ronald Richard Cleveland and Katherine Doris Taylor. Rosetta attended Niagara Falls High School, as well as Buffalo Community College in Buffalo, New York. In her younger years, she was a professional blues singer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She loved music and enjoyed gardening, reading, and crocheting. She also worked as an upholsterer for several years. She was a member of the Elks Organization (IBPOE of W) in Thomasville, Georgia. Before moving to Whigham, she was a member of the Grant AME Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is currently a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Bainbridge, Georgia.
She is survived by her mother, Katherine Thomas of Thomasville; her brother, Richard Cleveland of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; her son, Perez Cleveland of Innisville, Ontario, Canada and Katherine Lurry of Bainbridge, Georgia. Rosetta is also survived by a host of grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
