Kenneth Wayne Dunlap was born November 14, 1971, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Charles Lynwood Dunlap and Deborah Barbree Dunlap. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1990, and earned credit at Bainbridge Junior College. Kenneth worked as an equipment operator at Georgia Pacific Cedar Springs. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Kenneth loved animals, country life, riding the dirt roads, and living & working on the ancestral farm. He enjoyed his position on the service crew at Georgia Pacific in Cedar Springs. He was a man of few words and was an avid listener, always soaking in all around him.
He was known for his “smart mouth” sense of humor. Even after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Kenneth could light up a room with his amazing smile and a perfectly timed quip. He had a strong spirit and fought hard after his diagnosis. His medical care team were perplexed each time he surpassed all expectations. There never has been, or will be, a man like Kenneth Wayne Dunlap. Amanda considers it her greatest honor to have been Kenneth’s wife, caregiver, and 24/7 partner in crime.
Kenneth leaves behind his wife, Amanda Lynn Dunlap; his daughter, Jessica Williamson (Adrian) of Bainbridge; his stepdaughters, Emily Hall (Cory) of Fernley, NV and Kirby SmithWood (André) of Fredericksburg, VA; his granddaughters, Sydney, Olivia, Elleree, and Kathryn Williamson; his mother & step-father, Deborah & Bobby Thursby; his stepmother, Sue Dunlap; his siblings, Keith Dunlap (Shanna) and Kristy Poitevint (Wayne); and a host of extended family. His furry family members will be lost without him. They have been faithfully by his side through this journey: Mokey, Sophia, Mabel, Cordelia, Mazikeen, Maggie, Dodger, and Dixie Marie. They will miss their dad. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lynwood Dunlap.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
Dunlap, I want you know that you were my best friend. You were always there. When you were having brain problems I made our supervisors at the pjant report to us. When your wife died I made them report to us. When you left us I still kept in touch. You not only took care of pappy, you took care of my mom, and me and my daughter. You aided me through college with every book until I could pay you back. With mom & pappy you gave them a pass & refused to allow me to pay you for your time. I miss you more than life my friend! You have no idea how much. I was so grateful when you told me you had gotten married & saddened when you told me you were in the fight for your life. But we fought together for a long time to protect from the wrong females, upon your request and I will never regret protecting my best friend. Im glad you parked the scooby doo van so she could find you and protect you. Im grateful for everything that you did for me and my daughter protecting me from my first husband aka her father & his whore & her husband! Ty for protecting my mother & me from my brother. Ty for fixing my car and helping me through college. There had never been a better friend or brother as you! Until we meet again in Heaven!
