Mr. George Earl Copeland, age 79, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, with his family by his side at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, Georgia.
Services for Mr. Copeland will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, January 27, 2025, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Cloud will officiate. Rex Faulkner, Wayne Woods, Robbie Potter, Ted Martin, Todd Martin, and Lance Woods will serve as pallbearers. The interment will follow in West Bainbridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 1:00.
George Earl Copeland was born July 8, 1945, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to George Preston Copeland and Bonceil Harrell Copeland. He graduated from West Bainbridge High School Class of 1963. George proudly served in the National Guard. He was a smart businessman and salesman. He owned and operated Copeland’s Furniture Store for many years in West Bainbridge. From furniture to cars, his charm and charisma made him a successful salesman.
George never met a stranger and loved to share stories of the “good ole days”. He was generous and friendly. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His family was his heart, and he loved spending time with them. George Copeland will be deeply missed by the family he loved so very much and his many, many friends.
George Earl Copeland is survived by his son, George Earl “Bunky” Copeland, Jr. of Bainbridge, Georgia; sisters, Mary Esther Ramsey of Albany, Georgia and Deborah Elizabeth Faulkner (Rex) of Albany; grandchildren, George Preston Copeland (Nina) of Lawrence, Kansas, Jacqueline Victoria Copeland of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Mary Hannah Elizabeth Copeland of Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Ayla Copeland, Gioia Copeland, and Valerie Chapman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alwayne Finleyson, Prestine Sowa, Victor Harrell Copeland; and grandson, Clifton William Henry Copeland.
