Crystal Rashel Goodson-Martin was born December 26, 1976, in Tallahassee, FL, the daughter of Ronnie Martin and Jackie Bailey Martin. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1995. In 1996, she married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Lee Birdsong. Crystal was a member of Eldorendo Baptist Church.
Crystal was the epitome of “at large and in charge”, and everyone knew she ruled the roost. Her family was her entire reason for being, and she delighted in keeping Lee busy. Putting others first was her nature which sometimes included people she didn’t know or at least know well. People, especially children, gravitated to Crystal because she was friendly and outgoing. They soon learned her grizzly bear hugs confirmed “dynamite comes in a small package”.
Crystal never left home until every hair was in place and makeup was on point. Though she had the DNA of a Nascar driver, she was always a minute late. She was extra and every single life she touched is forever grateful for the extra grace, extra encouragement, extra care, extra fun, and extra love she shared.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Lee Birdsong; her children, Mason & Ashton Birdsong, Perry & Taylor Birdsong, Maverick Birdsong, and Paris Birdsong; her grandchildren, Jackson, Jake, Jesse, and Brooks; her parents, Ronnie Martin & Teresa of Havana, FL, Jackie Goodson of Panama City, FL, and Ronnie Goodson of Panama City, FL; her grandmother, Mamie Howard; her siblings, Brandi Nicole Goodson, Melissa Green & Trey, and Tiffany Segrest & Craig; and a host of extended family. Crystal was preceded in death by her sister, Candace Goodson.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
