Nothing better than books, baking, and being outside according to Arlene. Her famous chicken pot pie was evidence she knew her way around the kitchen and could scratch up something good in a quick minute. Working in the yard and caring for animals kept her busy in her younger years. Arlene was always a reader and felt books gave her a glimpse of faraway places and journeys she dreamt of.

Survivors include her children Beth & Bill Ingram of Climax and Lacey & Eddie Flory of Pennsylvania; her siblings, Sherry Lee Shearer (George) and Audrey Ann Young (Kenny) all of Pennsylvania, and Vonnie Angle of Bainbridge; and several grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, George Richard Cowden; her grandson, Jeremy Ingram; and her brothers, Glen H. Sollenberger, Jr. and Nicholas Sollenberger.
