Martha Logue Greene

August 8, 1933 – January 8, 2024

Martha Logue Greene, age 90, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home in Thomasville, Georgia. Services will be held graveside at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo, Georgia, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024. The Rev. Matt Vickers will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Martha Logue Greene was born August 8, 1933 in Cairo, Georgia, to Marvin Logue and Jessie Alberta Mills Logue. She was one of ten children. Martha married the love of her life, Roscoe Haywood (Buck) Greene, Jr. She and Buck raised three children and shared their lives for 64 years before his passing. Martha and Buck were charter members of Tabernacle Baptist Church. A women, strong in her faith, she loved and trusted the Lord. Martha was the Supervisor of the Main House at Beverly Plantation. She was an excellent hostess and cook. She excelled in cooking for large groups. President Eisenhower had some of her wonderful cooking when he visited Thomasville. Her cooking skills were topped only by her sewing talents. From wedding dresses to briar breeches, she has sewn them all. Martha’s family was her world and her grandchildren were her heart. Strong-willed, feisty, independent, much loved by her family, Martha Greene will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her children, Diann Walker of Cairo, GA and Richard Greene (Tina) of Thomasville; brother, Dalvin Logue of Bainbridge, GA; grandchildren, Andy Walker (Masuyo), Lori Walker, Kyle Greene (Hope), Ben Greene, Makenna Greene, and Peyton Greene; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Walker, Tyler Walker, Mason Walker and Cooper Greene; sister-in-law, Sue Hancock of Sneads, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roscoe Haywood (Buck) Greene, Jr.; son, Roscoe Haywood (Rocky) Greene, III; and siblings, Hilda Carr, Afton Logue, Ben Logue, Ella Belle Johnson, James (Fed) Logue, Opal Logue, Marvin Logue, and Virgil Logue.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Eastside Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, P. O. 749, Cairo, Georgia 39828.
