511-3-5-.23(5)(b) – (b) during operation, the ph is less than the minimum or more than the maximum levels allowed in dph rule 511-3-5-.l7.

Inspector Notes: Observed pH level of 6.8 or below at time of inspection. Acceptable pH range is 7.2 – 7.8 and was checked twice. CPO noted pH level of 7.4 at 8:15 AM; 15 minutes prior EH testing. Discussed pH level is below minimum with hotel manager. Hotel manager closed and locked pool gate at time of inspection.


19 – adequate turnover rate

511-3-5-.07(1)(a) – (a) the equipment for a swimming pool shall be of adequate size to turn over the entire pool water capacity. the turnover rate for pools constructed after the adoption of this chapter shall not exceed the sum of one and one-half times the average wat

Inspector Notes: Observed flow meter float appears to be stuck and not operating properly. EH cannot determine if pool has adequate flow. Showed manager inoperable flow meter. Manager to discuss with CPO to unstick float or replace flow meter.

Inspector Notes: Observed flow meter float appears to be stuck and not operating properly. Showed manager inoperable flow meter. Manager to discuss with CPO to unstick float or replace flow meter. If CPO was performing duties, stuck float would have been documented and repaired/replaced. It is unlikely the flow meter was working 15 minutes prior to EH arriving for inspection.


35 – operator facility inspections performed; written documentation

511-3-5-.22(5) – (5) the trained operator must perform a minimum of two visits weekly and be able to provide assistance whenever needed.

Inspector Notes: Facility has no trained responsible person on staff performing pool maintenance and water chemical checks as required in pool rules. If pool is to be reopened, facility is to designate a responsible person to maintain pool operations in absence of CPO. Responsible person is to be trained by current CPO or facility can have responsible person attend CPO training. EH provided manager with approved CPO course list.


36 – daily recordkeeping: water testing and self inspection performed

511-3-5-.22(1) – (1) all swimming pools and spas covered by this chapter shall be maintained under the supervision and direction of a properly trained operator who shall be responsible for the sanitation, safety, and proper maintenance of the pool and all related equipment.

Inspector Notes: Reviewed pool records. Facility is not keeping records and documentation as outlined in pool rules. Facility is not testing and documenting pH and chlorine levels twice a day as required in pool rules. No records for daily self-checks are kept. Since facility does not have a responsible person to perform maintenance and testing, CPO is required to perform these tasks daily and check pH and chlorine level twice a day. CPO is not documenting pool adjustments, recommended closures, and other assessments during visits. Pool records kept for 10/12/2022 at 8:15 AM noted pH level of 7.4. PH level tested two times at 8:33 AM by EH with brand new test kit. PH was 6.8 or below.
