Nannette Thompson Corbett, 84, of Vada, GA, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Conrad Salter officiating.  Paul Boyd, Scott Boyd, John Clark, Cody Mason, Greg Mason, and Reggie Willard will serve as active pallbearers.

Nannette Thompson was born September 5, 1937 in Vada, GA, the daughter of John J. & Sarah Smith Thompson. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1956, and Morris Business School in Atlanta. Nannette married Jimmy Corbett in 1961 and they made their home in Vada. She was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church.

Nannette spoiled her grandchildren, great-grands, nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews and anyone else around. She was known as “Nanny” to family and friends. She loved to cook and often baked sweets to share. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching her favorite shows on television: Reba, The Golden Girls, and Ice Road Truckers. Nanny lived a life of faith, freely sharing her love of Jesus Christ with family, friends, and even strangers. She instilled the importance of having a relationship with Christ with her family and lived as a strong example of the hands and feet of Jesus. Nanny’s favorite holiday was Christmas when she celebrated the birth of her Savior.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jimmy Corbett; her children Dawn Willard (Reggie) of Lewisville, NC, Jana Aleshia Gordon (Neal Meggs) of Bainbridge, GA, and Sharon Leigh Collins (Mark) of Foley, AL; her grandchildren, Christopher Gordon, Bryan & Erica Gordon, Hunter Collins, Haleigh Collins, and Justin & Rachel Kelly; her great-grandchildren, Rylan, Finn, Folsom, Hayden & Harper Gordon, and Harrison & Grey Kelly; and her siblings, Shirley Thompson, Lanelle Cloud, and J.L. Thompson all of Vada; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Nannette was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jannette Thompson Boyd; her sister-in-law, Shirley Foister; her brother-in-law, Bobby Cloud; and her beloved poodle, Ace.
