Bobby Eugene Boyett was born March 25, 1933 in Cairo, GA, the son of Gene Boyett and Opal Bryant Boyett. He was a graduate of Attapulgus High School. In 1952, Bobby married Carolyn Poitevent and they made their home in Attapulgus. He worked as a machine operator and owned Boyett Hauling Company. Bobby was a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church.

Family was a big deal to Bobby. He kept a bead on the children and grandchildren while managing to find time to check in with his cousins. He loved to talk about anything and never seemed to meet a stranger. Bobby was known far and wide in this area as one who could operate any type of machine…the bigger the better. He was tough as nails with a heart like a teddy bear. Bobby helped many folks in their times of despair with no thought of accolades.

Survivors include his sons, Donald Boyett and his wife, Darby, of Attapulgus, GA and Earl Boyett and his wife, Betty, of Climax, GA; his siblings, Jimmy & Joyce Boyett of North Carolina, Terry & Patsy Boyett of Tallahassee, FL, Jerry & Rita Boyett of Palatka, FL, Avis Bailey of Kissimmee, FL, and Sue & Rudy McKenzie of Attapulgus, GA; his grandchildren, Lyle & Melissa, Kell, Mary Elizabeth, Matthew, Nicholas, and Colby; and his great-grandchildren, Luke, Annlee, Kori, and Chandler. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Poitevent Boyett; and his grandson, Marcus Boyett.
