Robert Charles McConnell, 65, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Dean officiating. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Robert Charles McConnell was born August 20, 1955 in Wichita Falls, TX, the son of Charles D. and Bobbie Friend McConnell. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. Robert married Cathy Blanchard in 1977 and they made their home in Bainbridge. He retired from Georgia Gulf Sulfur and was Methodist by faith.

Robert had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family and friends with unmatched passion and lived every day to the fullest. His cats, Hollywood and Sissy, were loyal companions who enjoyed hearing the sounds of NASCAR blare from the television on race day. Robert enjoyed being outside. He kept the grass like a putting green and worked to have the cleanest car in town.

Survivors include his wife of almost 43 years, Cathy McConnell; his son, Chris McConnell of Bainbridge, GA; his siblings, Diane & Rudy Rowe of Tallahassee, FL, Sue & Haller Jackson of Shreveport, LA, and Denise & Mike Meroney of Houston, TX; and a host of extended family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
