Letter to the Editor Concerning The Rivers Apartments

To whom this may concern,

I, Carmiah Crawford, am a 26 year old legal resident of Bainbridge, Georgia and The Rivers Apartments. I live here in a 2 bedroom with 4 young kids by the age of 7, 3, 2 and 10 months. Since the Coronavirus Pandamic, the office here at The Rivers Apartments has not been able to assist the tenants. For example; the dryers haven’t been working, which means no clean clothes for my household, paperwork can’t be completed, and pest control is under strict orders to stay out of the homes. Their response when asked was “It’s because of the Coronavirus”. We American citizens were told a “mask” protects us against Coronavirus, so why do I have to wait a month with no clean clothes for me and my kids because of Coronavirus? Or why do my kids and I have to suffer because they chose to wear a mask and still say we’re contagious and to stay out of our homes? It looks a lot like this “Coronavirus” is an excuse for them to sit around and do nothing.

  1. The neighborly thing to do, the good ol’ Southern Hospitality thing to do, would be for someone to help this young man and his family out. I’m sure one of the many Christian Bainbridge women would be more than happy to do a couple of loads of laundry for them.

If that doesn’t work, I suggest you go over your lease and look at this:
    https://www.hud.gov/states/georgia/renting/tenantrights
If you are within the bounds, file a complaint here:
    https://www.hud.gov/complaints_home

I can’t find a contact for the owners, it’s listed as THE RIVERS REDEVELOPMENT, but I’m sure our fine Tax Commissioner Mark Harrell- 229-248-3021 could point you in the right direction on finding a working phone number.

If you’re paying rent, you deserve to have the amenities you were promised in your lease.

  2. I am a current tenet at The Rivers Apartments. The staff is doing their best to provide services during this crisis. While they haven’t been able to do business as usual, they are going above and beyond. My family loves the new management and maintenance team.

      1. That anonymous comment had to come from somebody from the office trying to make rivers sound good cause i know plenty of people who stay there or use to. They dont like to fix nothing there before corona virus. Then they do a poor job at that. Just last year some cabinets that were poorly assembled fell completely off the wall and hit my nephew in the back & had he not been standing in the spot he was in he wouldve been underneath the entire thing ! They didnt fix the damages nor did they do anything about the fact that because of there poor job of remodeling the units the cabinets fell on my nephew and couldve been hurt worse than what he was. They do not care and im currently looking into attourney for a law suit!

        1. A class action lawsuit is a good idea. Someone take charge, get enough tenants documenting violations, and it should be hard to dispute. These predatory landlord companies are getting rich off the backs of families and it’s time they start treating people fairly.

  3. Why can’t clothes be washed without a drier?? Women for years have washed clothes without a drier. Take them to a laundromat to dry or hang them to dry in the house. A drier is not a necessity..it’s a luxury!

    1. Why do after 7 years of residency do I all of a sudden have to wash clothes without a working dryer?
The rivers apartments was my blessing out of the lifestyle of having to wash clothes without a dryer.
IV been using the same wash house here in the rivers apartments for 7 years now…
Are u saying u don’t live in luxury pertaining to have a dryer to dry your clothing?
And do u have 4 kids on your own with the youngest being under a year old? The atmosphere is bad…my kids lives matter ma’am.

  4. PARDEN ME MA’AM? U said ” take them to the laundry mat” WHEN I HAVE A LAUNDRY MAT IN THE THE RIVERS APARTMENT COMPLEX???
I have been silent about this matter too long.
THE RIVERS APARTMENTS WAS ” SUPPOSE” TO BE CREATED FOR ” WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN WASHING THEIR CLOTHES FOR YEARS WITHOUT DRYERS WHICH IS WHERE I CAME FROM!!! To put the icing on the cake, if I won’t even take my 10 month old back and forth to OUR wash house two steps away, WHAT MAKES U THINK “KIND AMERICAN” IM GONNA TAKE MY BABY 10 BLOCKES AWAY BACK AND FORTH IN THIS CORONA?? The struggle is real🤦
